MD Forgo Battery Company Limited, Mr Joseph Offorjama, gave his opening remarks by welcoming participants to the Business Meeting. He took us down the memory lane narrating to the gathering how Forgo Battery Company Limited came into existence, the passion he had for battery manufacturing, the challenges the Company has faced over the years and the need for government agencies like the Standards Organization of Nigeria to live up to her responsibility in ensuring that the Battery sector in Nigeria is sanitised of sub-standard products. The MD in his analysis said a lot of battery assemblers/manufacturers were forced to shut down due to influx of sub-standard battery products, government policies and a host of other issues that militated against the sector. He solicited the support of SON in the fight against sub-standard products and creating awareness on the need to patronise quality products that have been certified by SON. In other words, he implored SON to promote those products certified by them to be of good quality on their website, so that Nigerians can have good quality products and be saved from purchasing bad products.
